Safelist… Not So Safe.

August 8, 2009

Safelists are a popular way of marketing your website. In safelist advertising you are advertising to members who joined the safelist website. Safelist members have to agree to reseiving emails from other safelist members.Safelist members can either surf multiple websites(free membership) or purchase (upgrade) to gain credits. When surfing safelist members are required to stay on the page for between 10 and 20 seconds. After the time has passed they earn credits and surf to the next ad.

I choose to stay away from safelist advertising. I tried out this safelist advertising to see what kind of response it generates and I did get traffic the more I surfed the more traffic I got everything was fine until my computer got infected with a virus from a website while I was testing out gotsafelists.com. They obviously don’t allow websites with affected programs to enter into the safelists purpose but some websites slide by. I tried other safelists like listjoe.com, listjumper, thelistauction, and even traffic syndicate sites like ts25 and never had this problem but I could see how constant surfing could raise someones chances of running into one of these sites.

If you choose to use this form of free advertising you can earn an ample amount of credits that can be used for traffic some safelist sites even pay cash. Here are a few tips from my experience that may help you along the way.

Tip #1 – Read terms and conditions of usage. Some safelist websites are more firm than others when it comes to submitting sites be sure you join one with a zero tolerance policy.

Tip #2 – Alot of safelist do advertise through email marketing. Many of the sites affecting computers seem to be adult sites. If you choose to except credits from one of these sites please be aware of the risk.

Tip #3 – Don’t get me wrong you will get clicks on your website using safelists but as for now some safelists just are not that safe please be careful.
